GIRAFIABE Cultural Association was born in 2018 from a passion for music and theater and the desire to be an active and dynamic part of our community. We are a heterogeneous group of young talents who have built our own identity starting from "Fiaba" a little theatre in the small part of Florence called Isolotto: where many of us have roots since childhood, while others have joined out of passion, word of mouth or just the desire to spend an evening with friends. Over the years we have self produced musicals, theatrical shows, concerts in collaboration with some Tuscan municipalities and educational artistic activities for schools of out community.

Filarmonica Vincenzo Bellini di Scandicci

Conductor Luigi Giordano

Luigi Giordano, born in Salerno in 1957, he has lived in Scandicci since 1964. In 1979 he graduated in Clarinet at the “Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory in Florence. After some collaborations with the Florentine Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra del Teatro del Maggio in Florence, in 1984 he moved to the role of music teacher in public schools. Since 1974 he has been part of the “Vincenzo Bellini” Philharmonic of Scandicci, first as solo clarinet and then, from 1994, as conductor

Filarmonica Vincenzo Bellini Scandicci
The foundation of the association dates back to May 31, 1869. In 1900 he gave itself the name “Giuseppe Verdi”. Ten years later there was a split and the “Giuseppe Verdi” was then joined by the “Guido Monaco”. These two bands carried out separate activities until the advent of fascism, when they were forced to merge and reunite as the “Communal Band”. After the liberation, the passionate and willing musicians who remained following the disintegration of the complex, which occurred with the fall of fascism, saw to the reconstruction of the band and adopted the name, which it still maintains today, of “Vincenzo Bellini”. In 1972, thanks to a teacher full of will and passion, Maestro Faliero Falai, the band began an educational activity destined to radically transform the band body. In the 1980s, M° Falai was replaced by M° Pierluigi Puzzolo. It was in these years that the repertoire began to change and the symphonic and lyrical music, typical of bands, was also accompanied by songs taken from film soundtracks and original band music. The 1990s saw another change in the direction of our Philharmonic: M° Puzzolo left the maestro’s baton to our Clarinet soloist, M° Luigi Giordano. The band is now mature to tackle a complex and varied repertoire and Maestro Luigi Giordano is its valid interpreter.

Joyful Anthem Choir

Conductor Dario Passanante

Dario Passanante Born in 1993, Dario is an energetic and young conductor who has been passionate about choral music since childhood. He has sung in several polyphonic choirs of sacred and religious music and is responsible and director of a parish choir. His decades of experience with gospel music began in the Sound & Voices Gospel Choir where he sang as a tenor and where he trained as a director through the teachings of the choir mistress. His university studies took him to Siena where in 2013 he founded and directed the Joyful Anthem Gospel Choir of which he is also president, he created and carries out the Siena Gospel Project collaborating with prominent musicians and artists of the Gospel genre. He frequently participates in musical training, singing and choral conducting workshops and has undertaken piano studies since 2017.

The choir was founded in October 2013 in Siena by the will of some friends who, driven by the desire to be together and by the friendship that binds them, decided to put their passion for singing into practice through gospel music. Since the year of its foundation, the choir has organized concerts, performances and musical events in the Siena area, collaborates with municipal and pro loco associations of the province, with institutions, choirs, similar and voluntary associations, and is involved in social issues by becoming an instrument of cultural and musical diffusion. Since 2015 the choir has been carrying out a project called “Siena Gospel Project”: an annual event which consists of a gospel music workshop held by international artists in which choristers and musicians from all over Italy participate which ends with a charity concert. In organizing this event, the Joyful Anthem Gospel Choi boasts the collaboration of GTM Ministries, an international non-profit organization based in the United States which aims to bring international directors, artists and musicians to Europe and around the world who offer a few days of free teaching and musical exchange to local choirs. Between rehearsals, concerts and moments of sharing, the strength and energy of the Gospel lead the Joyful Anthem Gospel Choir to grow and become a legally recognized association in September 2017. The artistic mission is to tell a different way of singing to God , staging a new way of interpreting religious music: a set of voices, joy, music and sounds that overwhelm those who sing and those who listen.
